U.S. Supreme Court Bookstore

Washington, District of Columbia

Situated within the U.S. Capitol Building

The Supreme Court Historical Society hired McCrery Architects to design a space that would be noble and in keeping with the outstanding architecture of the U.S. Supreme Court building. This is the only newly-designed space in the original, historic Court building and serves as the book store for the Justices’ published works, and a gift shop for visitors to the Supreme Court. The robust design evokes the architecture of the original Supreme Court Chamber located in the US Capitol Building. The white oak book casing, display cases, and sales counter are custom designed, and built to last. The wood species was selected to match the existing wood finishes elsewhere in the Court building. This project exemplifies the great care for and attention to detail that is the hallmark of McCrery Architects’ commissions.
