McEssy & Feehan Libraries

Mundelein, Illinois

Situated within the University of St. Mary of the Lake, also known as the Mundelein Seminary

A new addition and a major renovation of the original historic library. This new library was commissioned as the first new building ever on an established and historic Pontifical Seminary campus. The new addition had to rise to the level of the seminary’s magnificent historic architecture.

Commissioned by the then Rector, the Very Reverend John F Canary, now Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Chicago.

Recently I had the opportunity to visit the newly restored Feehan Memorial Library. I was very pleased with the outcome of the restoration of this magnificent building. I always knew it was a striking place on the campus, but your work has highlighted and enhanced the beauty of the library. I am sure the students will find it a very attractive place to continue their study and learning as they prepare for priesthood. Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I., Archbishop of Chicago
