Washington, District of ColumbiaThe new Gift Store in the United States Supreme Court Building was commissioned to be a noble interior room that participates in the extremely high level of architectural character in the Court building. This is the only newly-designed space in the historic Court building and serves as the book store for the Justices’ published works, and a gift shop for visitors to the Supreme Court. The robust design evokes the architecture of the original Supreme Court Chamber located in the US Capitol Building. The interior is of the same caliber of the original architecture of the court. It utilizes the same materials and even incorporates several of the building’s antique light fixtures within the new design. This project exemplifies the great care for and attention to detail that is the hallmark of McCrery Architects’ commissions.
